A hammer isn’t the first thing you think of when you look at the Italian gold jewelry in the Toscano Collection. But the Toscano Hammered Cuff Bracelet is made by an Italian goldsmith that has been working with his hammers for 35 years. And he’s honed his craft to a level that is unrivaled.

“I can’t tell you why this guy hammers better than anyone else, but he does,” laughs Ben Bridge buyer Laura Barringer. “When he’s sick, or on vacation, we will wait for him.”

Paolo Marchi, who works on the Toscano Hammered Cuff Bracelet, is one of more than 60 suppliers part of the Italian Gold Toscano Collection. And he loves creating bracelets.

“I love bracelets because they stay close to the hand. When you meet people the very first thing you do is shake hands and your eyes move immediately to the hand,” said Marchi. “And you can see the bracelet, and the bracelet identifies that person at first sight; her life, her past, her style. Hands can tell a lot about people. You can see their life.”

The gold is first rolled into sheets and then cut to the correct width. Marchi takes each section and works it over an anvil that itself has been shaped over years and year of hammering. After texturing the gold with his special hammer, Marchi then shapes it to fit the wrist of the woman who will wear it.

Passing from a hammering specialist to a polishing specialist, the bracelet eventually is perfected to the level required of a Toscano Collection piece and sent to America to be part of Ben Bridge family, hand-selected for its individuality and elegance. Each piece is a testament to the finest in Italian gold, style and craftsmanship, ready to be a part of your life.

The Toscano Hammered Cuff Bracelet is one of many pieces in the Toscano Collection, and it’s made by one of about 60 small Italian gold suppliers Ben Bridge searches out every year, that connects amazing Italian gold artisan with discerning customers.
