Developing a piece of jewelry is a different journey every time.  To create my moss agate pendant I first sketched the shape I wanted to see, an angular pendant that hung at a jaunty angle.

I wanted the gemstone to be edged in something textured.  I wasn’t sure if it would be in diamonds or in more of an Etruscan bead.

Initially, I thought I wanted the pendant in either labradorite or green agate, but as the piece came to life, I felt like it needed a rawer looking gemstone to capture the Cascade Mountains.  The green, mossy appearance of Moss Agate encapsulated the damp, lush feeling of the Cascades.

From the drawings a piece of rough moss agate had to be selected.  Here was the piece of rough.  It’s hard to imagine this turning in to a smooth, beautiful stone, but that’s what happened!

When the final piece arrived I couldn’t wait to try it on and see how it looked!  Amazing to see an idea come to life!  Now I just can’t wait to see someone wearing it!
