Ben Bridge has always been committed to diversity and inclusion and that dedication remains more important than ever. The last year underscored that it is imperative to challenge ourselves regarding how we can and must do more to ensure equality and social justice for everyone ranging from big foundational changes to visible gestures of allyship.
The Marketing Department saw the Summer Window Display, which will live in our Ben Bridge Jeweler store windows from June through August, as an opportunity to make a striking visual statement of love and unity. They set out with the goal of creating a colorful, showstopper window that celebrates Pride and our support of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as partner with a local Seattle artist to create a custom piece of art that honors community and love with our beautiful jewelry. The store windows pop fantastically with color while showcasing the inclusive Pride flag leading to our beautiful art piece reveal.
We are honored to have partnered with the amazingly talented local Seattle artist, Aramis O. Hamer, on our incredibly vibrant and stunning custom art piece which was inspired by a number of beautiful aspects:
- Our ongoing art deco visual aesthetic
- Our covetable and art-inspired Toscano Italian Gold Collection (specifically these must-have earrings)
- The artist Beyonce’s lyrics from Brown Skin Girl – “Brown skin girl, Your skin just like pearls, The best thing in the world”
- Aramis’ important Black Lives Matter mural located in Seattle, Washington – the “V” in the mural was designed by Aramis and is created from gold chains
- Purple, which as our primary brand color, we love the incorporation of throughout
Taking influences from the “V” painted in the Black Lives Matter mural, the goddess in our painting adds a chain to her list of fine jewelry adornments. This is both a reminder to break free and a display of how connected we truly are in the world. With that, she stands amidst an art deco rainbow of color celebrating all things pride, love, and community.
In addition to creating an amazingly beautiful piece of art, Aramis passionately linked arms with us in our mission to do more to ensure equality and social justice for everyone. She particularly appreciated our involvement with the Black In Jewelry Coalition and our Lonia Tate Scholarship. To enhance our efforts, she is graciously donating 100% of all profits from the selling of the limited edition custom prints from June 2nd through August 31st to the Black In Jewelry Coalition. Visit her website, https://aohamer.com/online-shop/bbj, to purchase.
At the end of the summer, we will donate the original art piece with the intent to further support the Black In Jewelry Coalition.
