Grand Seiko Sport Collection Spring Drive Chronograph GMT SBGC242
SBGC242 features a stainless steel case measuring 43.8mm in diameter, 51.6mm in length, and 16.1mm in thickness. The base of the 18k yellow gold bezel features a dodecahedron shape, and the top portion of the bezel is a solid piece of blue zirconia ceramic. It is adorned with a legible tachymeter scale, a detail that lends to the sportier look of the watch. Matching the coloration of the bezel, the dial is blue and features yellow gold accents throughout.
Functionality is at the forefront here. A 30-minute register is positioned around two o’clock and a twelve-hour register directly below that at four. Having the two chronograph counters arranged vertically in this manner allows for easy tracking of elapsed time. Additionally, a GMT hand allows for tracking a second time zone.
Powering the watch is Grand Seiko 9R86 caliber, a Spring Drive chronograph movement with a GMT. It has a vertical clutch and column wheel design that results in high precision and tactility when using the chronograph function. The movement has an accuracy rating of +-15 seconds per month (which extends to the elapsed time), making it the world’s most accurate spring-driven chronograph. 9R86 is made of more than 400 parts, and each caliber is hand assembled by the skilled craftsmen and women of the Shinshu Watch Studio.

Give your watch a quick check on a regular basis, wiping down the face and bracelet with a soft cloth, checking the leather on a strap, and making sure that the strap or bracelet is firmly attached to the watch face. Also, while many watches are water resistant, few are truly waterproof, so if you find that moisture or dust has penetrated the case of your watch, bring it into your local Ben Bridge store where we can have one of our watchmakers clean it out for you.
Our best advice on watch maintenance is to never attempt do-it-yourself repairs, no matter how handy you are or how good the instructions are on Youtube. Watches are super complex little machines and only an expert watchmaker should be trusted to get a watch back into working condition. Attempts by an untrained repair person may seriously damage the watch and can even invalidate factory warranties.
In general, having your watch checked regularly by your Personal Jeweler or watchmaker and serviced according to the manufacturer's guidelines should keep it in excellent shape.
