Many ways to wear pearls!

Pearls are the only gemstone that is grown in another living creature. It’s also a great example of beauty if the face of adversity. The saying No Grit, No Pearl is one of the best ways of looking at pearls. The woman who wears pearls can wear them as an example of strength.

Choker – 14-16 inches: Do you have a favorite concert T-shirt? Wear a choker. Have a favorite dress? Wear a choker. It rests at the base of your neck. It works with outfits casual to formal. This could be the most versatile pearl necklace you are looking for a length to wear, or want to wear pearls casually. It also looks great when you wear it in combination with another strand.

Princess – 17-19 inches: This works great for crew and high necklines. It’s not just for Princess Grace, although she wore them often; this necklace also compliments plunging necklines, when you’re living dangerously and want to wear pearls without looking old fashioned. It’s also a great length for a simple pearl pendant. Tahitian pearls brings drama and elegance is a simple drop no matter what they’re paired with. Opera – 28-34 inches: the queen of the pearl necklace, this works as a single long strand, or worn double as a two strand choker.

Rope – over 45 inches: Coco Chanel, the woman credited with the Little Black dress, favored this necklace, although to be fair, there wasn’t a length or pearl necklaces she didn’t like. She believed women should wear their jewels for living, not just for special occasions.

Of course, beyond any length, today’s pearls are worn layered with other pearls, strand upon strand, doubled, or tripled, or even necklaces worn wrapped as bracelets. Whether you wear them as a traditional strand to bring a layer of class to any outfit, or rebel with some of the different colored pearls that are available today, the important thing to wear your pearls with is confidence. The more you enjoy your pearls, the more joy they’ll bring you, or another way of thinking of it, the more pearls you wear, the more joy you’ll get!
